A Day at Work

The Chinese factory where we worked is located about 70 kilometers north of Dalian City. Fortunately the road was a new toll road which was fast and efficient. Travel time from home to office was about one hour.

Our driver, Mr. Li is always happy. Also very friendly, prompt and courteous. Great guy to spend time with.

Our morning ride started at 8:00 am. This is the main street heading east. Note the orange suited man on the left. He is one of an army of street cleaners. They hand sweep the roads and sidewalks from early morning until long after dark in the night. The result is an absolutely clean city.

After a left turn two blocks from the hotel we head north. Elevated light rail system on the right.

Another left turn has us headed west towards the toll road. Elevated light rail system on the left. Station in the distance.

Toll booth that starts our toll road travel.

This is a typical toll road to be found connecting almost all of the cities in China. Build to EU standards, they are highly signed, smooth and clean. Note the manicured landscaping on the median and both sides of the highway.

Typical signage and landscaping.

Some good luck charmes help keep us safe.

This is our exit to Pikou City.

Piku City is a newly developed industrial area. As can be seen from the size of the toll booth complex, this development is planned for much future growth.

Mr. Li pays the toll. There is always a male police person in the booth with the female collector.

We cross some dry rice paddys enroute to the industrial park in the distance.

This is the factory where we work. The building on the left is the engineering building where our offices are located. The other giant buildings are fabrication shops.

Inside the engineering building on the second floor are the offices of the contractor engineers in this photo.

This open space to the left on the other side of the second floor is where we will build our offices.

And this is our new offices fully installed and operating. Cubicles for twelve, plus wired IT connections for another twelve persons at the far conference table.

The first (ground) floor of the engineering building contains the main dinning hall and kitchen where meals are prepared and served to the entire workforce.

We are served lunch in the VIP dining room on the second floor. The food is wonderful.

The factory complex is immense.

Inside of one of the fabrication shops. They can make anything out of steel here.

For our project they will fabricate nearly four kilometers length of large duct like this.

Getting ready for a contract signing ceremony.

Chairman Wu gives the welcoming remarks to the line of visiting VIPs.

And the ceremony ends in lots of fireworks including long strings of giant firecrackers.

Another banquet to celebrate a milestone achievement. Everyone gives a toast and speech. Lots of incredable food. I will miss this team.
